Cleaning the Costumes
Mascots are used in all types of weather by clients. Excessive use of costumes results in dirtiness and stinking so regular cleanness is very much essential to increase the life of any mascot costumes. THE MASCOT MAKERS always guide their customers regarding cleaning the costumes.
- All costumes are machine-washable with normal washing detergents.
- Heads, hands, and shoes should be washed by hand only.
- Never dry clean your mascot costume. Also, costumes with very complicated shapes might not be able to go in the washing machine, in that condition, wash your costumes with hand only.
- These costumes should only be washed by hand. If your costume falls into this category, we will let you know!
1. Heads, Shoes and Tail
When your mascot’s head, shoes, or tail require cleaning (to remove light stains), it is strongly recommended to use a professional cleaning service to ensure the best results.
If you would like to remove stains from your own, simply apply diluted liquid detergent to the stain. Use a light brush (do not use steel brushes, as these will destroy the fabric), lightly rub the affected area until the stain is gone.
2. Clothing
Your mascot’s gloves, shirt, inner, trousers, and outer body are machine washable, though we strongly recommend using a professional cleaning service to ensure the best results. Be sure to disassemble the component pieces of the body prior to cleaning.
If you do not opt to have the costume professionally cleaned, be sure to wash using a gentle cycle, in cold water, and allow to hang/air dry. Do not use a dryer to dry the body of your mascot.
3. Post-Performance Care
It is highly recommended that the mascot costume be allowed to air out after each performance. The head should be wiped out with a dry cloth if any perspiration has accumulated during the performance. Do not put clothes damp with sweat into the carry bag. This could cause mildew and the colors of your character to bleed onto other parts of the costume.
